Anatoliy Andreyevich Ponomarev
Born on July 10, 1932 in Yeleseyevich village of Smolenskaya Province.
Arrived in Kamchatka in 1961. He was working in Lenin Collective Farm from May 18, 1961 to May 7, 1987.
A navigator by profession, a sea-captain. As a captain he ran first Farm’s fishing vessels SRTR-400 Kerch and BMRT Seroglazka. He was noted for diligence, was a master of fishing and was considered as a record-breaker by right, and a champion of rich yields.
In 1980 the crew of BMRT Tekhnolog under the direction of A. Ponomarev fished 26937 tons and set up the world record that has not been broken yet.
Anatoliy Andreyevich was awarded with the Order of Lenin and the Red Banner of Labor; he was conferred the rank of the RSFSR’s Honored Worker of Fish Industry.
A. Ponomarev died in the town Temryuk in October 22, 1995.
One of largest kamchatka trawlers is honorably called after him.
